basic html
after clicking basic html, then contacts, i am unable to locate your basic actions such as add, delete, edit the contacts.
needless to say, there is not a "contact us" link to report of this dificiency.
unless its hidden somewhere
remember i can only use basic html
Hmm, that's interesting, you'd think that you'd be able to add/edit contacts, but I guess not. I'd much rather use something like Outlook, or some email client to check email, rather than the web,and only use webmail if I really have to.
I believe the basic html version of GMail only offers a subset of what the "standard" version does, so may be the contact editing and such is not a part of their basic html service.
So the solutions I guess would be to upgrade screen reader of choice to a version that's compatible with GMail and/or use it as a pop3 server, it can easily be configured with pretty much any email client and there are instructions on the GMail page. I've done that and I'm quite happy with the results. If someone's got a better way to work directly in the gmail page in basic html I'd be interested to hear of it too.
cheers

i've pretty much gone completely over to pop access for gmail now, it works really nicely. only check my mail on the site if i'm using my braillenote, and i'm considering trying to fix my braillenote to work with pop as well.
just a note, doesn't seem like jaws 9 or 10 the versions that work with the standard gmail interface like it much from what i've seen. will have to test it again, but it was a mess the last time i tried.
You can't add, edit, or delete contacts while working in basic HTML. Later versions of JAWS do seem to work in the standard HTML, but it's still not great accessibility. It's frustrating, but can be done. However, like others here, I just have my gmail configured to work with my Outlook Express.
I too have discovered that you cant do anything with contacts on there, i had actually posted that question on another board but didn't seem to get any responses, and I suppose the standard is not that great but i didn't know you could do it on that. Will have to play around with that.
While it is true that you can't add or edit your contacts list, you can delete under basic HTML. Click on contacts, then your list will appear with check boxes under each person's information. Check on the contact you want to get rid of and press the letter b until you get to the delete button.
